"We anticipate Da Vinci Xi demand will hold strong in the interim as customers await the commercial launch of da Vinci 5, benefiting from improving utilization and procedure volume trends in the near-term." Horton , which also reports on Thursday, has a 76% earnings beat rate and the stock typically gains roughly 1.5% after results. Toolmaker Snap-on had the highest earnings beat rate on the screen, at 90%. Revisions also raised the November job number to 182,000 and also added 117,000 more jobs to December. “The labor market is certainly cooling,” Brent Schutte, chief investment officer at Northwestern Mutual Wealth Management, said ahead of the report. “I think the labor market by many measures is at or nearing normal, but not totally back to normal,” Powell told reporters. But it is hard to contain the enthusiasm that a strong jobs report along with moderating inflation is good for most Americans.

Minneapolis CNN —For several months now, the US labor market has been on a cooling trajectory, and Friday’s jobs report made that even more apparent. The US economy added 150,000 jobs last month, falling below expectations but still notching a solid month of employment growth, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday. October’s job growth came in below September’s stronger-than expected but downwardly revised total of 297,000 jobs. Including the estimated 150,000 jobs added last month and the downward revisions to August and September that totaled 101,000 jobs, the United States is averaging 239,000 jobs gained per month so far this year. Where the jobs were — and weren’tBecause of the timing of the striking actions and how the BLS tracks such activity, October is the first jobs report that reflects the massive strike.

The US economy added an estimated 336,000 jobs last month, blowing expectations out of the water, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Friday. In September, leisure and hospitality helped drive job growth higher, with 96,000 jobs added. Today’s headline jobs number — that surprising 336,000 net job gain — is an initial estimate that will be revised twice more. The surprising September jobs report, however, didn’t continue that streak. August’s second look has job growth now at 227,000 for the month, an increase of 40,000.

July 25 (Reuters) - Randstad (RAND.AS), the world's biggest staffing firm, on Tuesday flagged weaker demand in a "challenging" jobs market, even as it beat expectations for second-quarter core earnings. Minneapolis CNN —The US job market cooled back down in June, adding just 209,000 jobs, and fueling optimism that the economy is on course to nail that elusive soft landing of lowering inflation without triggering a recession. That being said, last month’s job growth still outpaces the pre-pandemic average. “The job growth is slowing, but I don’t actually think that’s necessarily a bad thing,” Rucha Vankudre, senior economist for labor market analytics company Lightcast, told CNN. “In the tug of war between the labor market and the economy, there is still a push and pull, yet the labor market remains strong,” Becky Frankiewicz, president and chief commercial officer of ManpowerGroup, said in commentary issued Friday. In June, sectors such as government, as well as health care and social assistance, saw the biggest job gains: 60,000 and 65,200, respectively.

At the height of the pandemic, leisure and hospitality workers suffered the most layoffs across all industries as venues shuttered during lockdowns. Many of these workers found jobs working remotely for call centers and have stuck with the jobs ever since, he added. But within that industry, the bulk of the worker shortage is coming from public school teachers. There were 118,000 fewer public school teachers across the country last month compared to February 2020, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. Despite the shortage, public education jobs were much slower to raise wages than other industries, likely due to state and local budget constraints.

But hiring isn’t strong across the board, and is concentrated in a handful of industries. Professional and business services, which include a wide range of jobs such as accountants, lawyers and engineers, added 43,000 jobs, the biggest gain across all industries. Where workers got laid offEven though the jobs report showed a net positive gain, there were some sizable layoffs. Transit and passenger service jobs include people who work within mass transit system as well as taxi and school bus drivers.
